We are seeking a Construction Controller who can work with management delivering the proper reporting needed to raise company performance. Solid project accounting disciplines and analytics skills are a must, along with a good understanding of differed revenue methodologies and accrual accounting are necessary to be successful.

Your Primary Responsibilities:
​
Management
1. Maintain the documented system of accounting policies and procedures
2. Manage outsourced functions; coordinate with company accounting CPA in prep of tax returns
3. Supervise and direct clerical personnel
​
Transactions
1. Ensure the timely entry of production invoices for products, materials, and labor hours, so that project progress can be updated at least weekly.
2. Ensure that Requests for Payments are generated with enough lead time to allow collection before the next phase of work begins.
3. Ensure the timely entry of receiving docs and associated vendor invoices.
4. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
5. Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
6. Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly. This includes the collection of Requests for Payment (RFP’s), and the creation of RFP Customer statements as needed.
7. Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner, including the assigning of all employees to the correct payroll accounts.
8. Complete monthly bank credit card reconciliations to facilitate month-close by the 15th.
9. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
10. Ensure that monthly sales tax filings are accurate and on-time
11. Maintain the chart of accounts
12. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
13. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

Reporting
1. Issue timely and complete financial statements (by the 15th of the month); provide monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reports as per specification.
2. Coordinate the preparation of the weekly production reports
3. Be familiar with industry benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
4. Review monthly operating metrics and investigate anomalies
5. Be familiar with the annual budget and forecasts
6. Report significant budget issues to management

Compliance
1. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors if / when required
2. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
3. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Required Qualifications:
The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, and/or equivalent business experience and 6+ years of construction accounting.
Must understand GAAP, accrual basis practices and differed revenue recognition.
Must be fluent in QuickBooks and unafraid of learning associated, industry-specific software used by the company.
